Why Mt. Kilimanjaro National Park?

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, is the highest peak in the Africa continent and the tallest free standing mountain in the world, rising to 5,895meters (19,000 feet) at its summit, Uhuru Peak. This iconic stratovolcano is composed of three cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Kibo is the highest and still dormant.

Kilimanjaro National Park, was established in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Mt. Kilimanjaro has various climatic conditions starting from the bushland on the bottom of the mountain to the arctic ice region on top of the mountain. It boasts tropical rain forests, evergreen forests, the moorlands and the alpine desert regions in between.
